IDEA Public Schools: A Better IDEA for Education in the RGV

0

It all started with an IDEA. An IDEA that maybe school could be different. An IDEA that maybe the outcomes for all children could be different. An IDEA that maybe the communities that we live in could be different. What was that IDEA? It was IDEA Public Schools.

What started as just an IDEA in 1998 became a public charter school in 2000, and has since grown to serve over 80,000 students in four different states.

IDEA has 24 campuses in the Rio Grande Valley alone. From Rio Grande City to Pharr to Brownsville, there’s likely an IDEA campus within 15 minutes of your house.

The schools serve students in kindergarten to 12th grade and focus on sending 100% of IDEA students to college. Since IDEA is a tuition-free, open-enrollment public charter school, all you need to do is apply for an opening at one of its campuses.

IDEA’s Core Values

IDEA prides itself on developing the whole child, and part of that includes teaching students to act with integrity in everything they do. IDEA also puts a strong focus on academic achievement, and they absolutely deliver results. Four of IDEA’s College Preparatory Schools were ranked as the top 10 most challenging in the nation, according to the Jay Matthews Challenge Index.

IDEA operates under the idea that anyone and everyone involved with IDEA is part of their team and family, and this means that the school works to ensure equity for all of its constituents. IDEA also works to create a joyful learning environment for students and staff alike.
