I Want My Mummy Halloween Craft!!!

0

So, it’s almost Halloween, and I know what you’re thinking, “Didn’t she just write about a jar craft?” Why yes, yes I did! I just might make this a personal challenge – how many jar crafts can I come up with?

But in all seriousness, I do love to craft and nothing makes me happier than a simple and easy creative endeavor 🙂 Since Halloween is fast approaching it’s time to squeeze in a little hands-on fun before the holiday has come and gone.

Halloween Jar Supplies

You will need:

  • Glass jars
  • White paint
  • Paint brush
  • Glue
  • White glow in the dark glitter
  • White pipe cleaners (2)
  • Googly eyes
  • Gauze
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • Battery-operated tea light

The Process: Creating Your Halloween Jar

First, you will need to paint the entire lid with white paint.

Mummy lid1

While your lid is drying bend your two white pipe cleaners in half. Add some hot glue to the loose ends and adhere to the side of your glass jar. Hold it in place while it dries and repeat on the other side 🙂

Next, grab your gauze and dot the end with a little hot glue and attach it to the bottom of your jar, not the underside, just along the bottom. Start wrapping the jar and don’t forget to wrap above and beneath your mummy’s arms 🙂 When your mummy has been sufficiently wrapped cut the gauze and hot glue the end onto the jar. Be careful not to overdo it with the wrapping – if the gauze becomes too thick your mummy won’t glow when you turn on your battery operated tea light.

Using some hot glue add a pair of googly eyes to the front of your mummy 🙂

Then, spread all-purpose glue all over the lid (top and sides) and sprinkle with some glow in the dark glitter. Allow to dry under a strong light source.

Last, but not least, place your battery-operated tea light inside the jar, adjust the arms and close the lid!

Mummy final

You can create a single mummy for your child to enjoy as a nightlight or even create a grouping of them to display on your mantle or buffet. Personally, I think it would be really cute to make one for each member in the family in various heights …I think I may have just found my next jarhead challenge 🙂

Happy Halloween!!!!!

Stephanie Cullum
Hey y’all! My name is Stephanie, a stay-at-home mommy, former teacher, Gemini, lover of books, quirky shoes, jeans (I own like twenty of them), coffee, travel and good food…oh and I’m also a wife and mother to my one and only daughter – she’s two and cute as a button! I’m half American and half German, born in Argentina, and grew up in Germany, Hong Kong and Singapore before moving to Dallas to go to college (go SMU). Needless to say I’m not a native to the Rio Grande Valley, but my husband is. He enticed me down here with the promise of good Mexican food, beaches, and close proximity to a foreign country – so here we are six years later and I couldn’t be happier calling the RGV home!
