I love to decorate my house for Halloween. The kids have fun taking everything out of the boxes and trying to scare one another with their finds. One of my favorite family projects is our Halloween garland.
You can use any color of garland you would like. I use a black garland I found at Target a few years ago, but yellow, orange or even lime green would look great too. Colored garland can be found at Hobby Lobby, Target, Walmart and especially online.
- First, the kids open up the garland and connect several together. Make it as long or as short as you’d like.
- Then they connect a string of lights. (Lights are optional).
- When the lights are secured in place, they begin to tie on all different kinds of Halloween ornaments, stuffed spiders, ghosts, etc. You can use floral wire, bread ties, yarn, but most of the pieces can be attached using the garland itself.
Everyone participates, including our three year old daughter. It is wonderful to see how our garland has evolved through the years. I even enjoy adding class drawings or projects. Using your imagination, the sky is the limit.
Our garland is hung over our entrance to the toy room so everyone can see it. We also put up a Christmas and Easter garland.
This is a quick and easy project that can involve the whole family. Enjoy!
