El Centro Cultural is located at 2100 Gregory Avenue, in the Colonia of Cameron Park, Brownsville, Texas. The Center offers a wide variety of social services and educational programs to the community such as: GED, ESL, home economics, family counseling, assistance with CHIP, Medicaid and Medicare and employment placement assistance. The Center also offers a children’s books library and reading room.
La Esperanza Community Park is located adjacent to El Centro Cultural. The park also offers a walking trail, playground, picnic pavilion, lighted soccer field, basketball court pavilion and an outdoor basketball court.
This 73-acre park includes 2 playgrounds, 3 covered picnic shelters, barbecue pits, 2 basketball courts, hummingbird and butterfly garden, and the Lon C. Hill aquatic center and Splash Pad
This cute neighborhood park has lots of shade and lots of room to run! The playground looks so much like a treehouse and is perfect for kids ages 3 and up. There are also bathrooms on-site and a walking path.

Amenities available at this 24-acre park include outdoor playing fields, basketball and tennis courts, children’s playgrounds and concessions. A recreation building with a multi-purpose gymnasium and swimming pool are available.
An 18.5 acre Community Park, which includes a 7/8-mile Jogging Trail, Playground with rock/gravel floor, Pond with a Pier, Picnic Pavilion and Tables, Football/Soccer Field, Restrooms, Open Play Area and Dog Park. Park also houses a local fire station, the Boys and Girls Club and Bannworth Pool.
On May 8, 1846, United States and Mexican troops clashed on the prairie of Palo Alto. The battle was the first in a two-year long war that changed the map of North America. Palo Alto Battlefield National Historical Park preserves the site of this notable battle and provides an understanding of the causes, events, and consequences of the U.S.-Mexican War.
The Pharr Aquatic Center is a South Texas attraction including water slides, pools and lazy river attractions. Pharr Natatorium is also on site.
Lincoln Park is 48 acres. This park hosts a variety of program options that include nature center, baseball fields, basketball courts, playgrounds, and hiking trails. Located just outside the University of Texas RGV, the park provides a breath of fresh greenery and open space alongside the local urban landscape.
A Neighborhood Park, which includes 2 Lighted Baseball Fields, Playground with gravel/rock floor, 2 Picnic Tables, 6 Covered Picnic Shelters, a Scout Hut, Community Center, Restrooms, and the Texas Citrus Fiesta Office.
La Sal del Rey, or “the King’s Salt,” is one of three naturally occurring salt lakes in South Texas. Sitting atop an estimated four million tons of salt, these hypersaline lakes are seven times saltier than the ocean.

A Regional Park, which includes 12 picnic shelters, 2-acre pond with pier, 4 lighted baseball/softball fields, restrooms, playground, basketball courts, shuffle board courts, 3 lighted tennis courts, and a 2 mile walking trail.
Neighborhood park offering a splash pad, playground, restrooms, and pavilion with picnic tables. It is a summer meals site via the McAllen ISD summer feeding program. The park also has a skateboard park, tree-shaded trails, baseball field, sand volleyball court, and ample green space.
This small park is comprised of a basketball court, swing set, playground, and a picnic pavilion. A portion of the basketball court has been modified to accommodate a skate ramp.
The 100-acre National Butterfly Center is the premier location in the United States to experience the beauty, drama, and emotion of wild butterflies. A project of the nonprofit North American Butterfly Association, the center is designed to attract incredible numbers of beautiful, wild butterflies. Clouds of butterflies may be found at the National Butterfly Center because, by planting thousands of plants that the butterflies need for nectar and for caterpillar growth, we have created an outdoor paradise that sustains large populations and hundreds of species of wild butterflies.
McAllen Municipal Park and Pool is home to a 27-acre site with picnic facilities, a rubber floor toddler playground, older kid playground & an Olympic-size outdoor pool (see McAllen Parks and Rec aquatics site for more information on pool hours).

The multi-use facility includes eight fields and one championship field which meets the needs of various sports including soccer, football, rugby, and ultimate Frisbee as well as numerous community and special events including the annual McAllen Marathon. In addition to the fields, the park’s amenities include practice fields, lighted tennis courts, a basketball court, playground, water feature, concession area, and restroom facilities. A permit is required for use of this facility.
