Enjoy 1.5 miles of winding trails through 33 acres of native Tamaulipan Thornscrub habitat. The McAllen Nature Center is home to over 220 species of birds and 90 species of butterflies. Endangered species include the Texas Indigo Snake (non-venemous) and the Texas Tortoise.
Admission is $1 per person suggested donation. All visitors are required to sign in with site staff. Trail maps are available at the visitor welcome center.

Sports enthusiasts of all ages will enjoy the lighted softball/baseball, football, and soccer fields, a jogging trail, a lighted basketball pavilion, lighted tennis courts, sand volleyball courts, and aquatic facilities. Exciting playground equipment is also available in the 27-acre park.

The Lark Community Center and Park is a great place for the whole family. It has a branch library, gym, classrooms and restrooms inside. The outdoor facilities include two play areas (one for littles and one more advance for the bigger kids), soccer fields, covered picnic tables, and a walking track with plenty of shade.

This Harlingen park has 9 acres, an inclusive//handicap accessible playground, a covered picnic shelter, and access to the Arroyo Hike & Bike trail.

The multi-use facility includes eight fields and one championship field which meets the needs of various sports including soccer, football, rugby, and ultimate Frisbee as well as numerous community and special events including the annual McAllen Marathon. In addition to the fields, the park’s amenities include practice fields, lighted tennis courts, a basketball court, playground, water feature, concession area, and restroom facilities. A permit is required for use of this facility.

Fireman’s Park is an oasis in the middle of McAllen. It boasts a pond with walking track, restrooms, kids’ playground and B-cycle station. Rentals are available on weekends for paddle boats, kayaks and stand-up paddle boards. The barbecue pavilion is capable of serving 250 people. The pavilion features a refrigerator, indoor grill, restrooms, and can be rented through the Parks & Recreation Department. The park also has a playground area and sand volleyball court.

This cute neighborhood park has lots of shade and lots of room to run! The playground looks so much like a treehouse and is perfect for kids ages 3 and up. There are also bathrooms on-site and a walking path.

El Ranchito Park is located near the intersection of Highway 281 and Park Ranch Road, just southeast of San Benito.  The newly constructed park offers a number of recreational elements and amenities such as regulation size little league multi-use field, full-sized soccer field, a walking trail, basketball court, playground, butterfly garden, benches, and picnic pavilions.

Located across from the world-renowned Gladys Porter Zoo, Dean Porter Park is Brownsville’s most intensely developed park. 
 
A handful of civic buildings – the Camille Playhouse, the Ringgold Civic Pavilion, the Children’s Museum and the Costumes of the Americas Museum – are built along historic Town Resaca. From the buildings a lighted boardwalk with picnic tables lines the resaca, perfect for fishing and bird watching. 
 
The 25-acre park also contains Sam’s Memorial Pool, with a children’s spray park; two playgrounds, a fitness trail, and several large and small picnic pavilions. 
 
With all of these features, Dean Porter Park continues to be one of the finest, well kept, and most diverse urban parks in the country.

Pete Benavides Park Brownsville

Pedro “Pete” Benavides Park is dedicated in memory of longtime County Commissioner Pedro “Pete” Benavides who was instrumental in the development of this park. The park is located at the corner of Browne Rd. and California, in the Southmost area of Brownsville, Texas. The Park is constructed on 64 acres of land adjacent to Resaca de la Guerra. Amenities at the park include; a lighted adult softball field, lighted little league baseball field, two lighted full-sized soccer fields, lighted basketball court, lighted volleyball court, playground and splash pad area, four small picnic pavilions, one large picnic pavilion, BBQ areas, a one mile Resaca frontage nature trail with two nature observation stations, and a 1.5 mile walking trail with 5 integrated workout stations.

This park is part of the master-planned Tres Lagos Community. Complete with swings, exercise stations, picnic tables and a multi-level playground that’s great for kids ages 5 and up.

An 18.5 acre Community Park, which includes a 7/8-mile Jogging Trail, Playground with rock/gravel floor, Pond with a Pier, Picnic Pavilion and Tables, Football/Soccer Field, Restrooms, Open Play Area and Dog Park. Park also houses a local fire station, the Boys and Girls Club and Bannworth Pool.
